Family Orienteering

Spend a spring day together orienteering at the Webster Arboretum!  Orienteering is a great way to spend time together outdoors and the course is perfect for families with young children.

Family Fun Trail Hikes

Come join the Friends of Webster Trails (FWT) on their hikes/walks in and around Webster.  The FWT volunteers lead this program to help acquaint people with walking/hiking possibilities in and around our town.  Please dress for the weather, wear proper shoes, bring water if desired, and show up at 2:00 pm the 3rd Sunday of each month.  You will be met by the designated trail leader, usually an FWT board member.  These walks are held regardless of weather conditions.  Families of all ages are WELCOME!  For more information about Friends of Webster Trails visit their website at www.webstertrails.org.  Refer to your receipt for exact meeting location

International Migratory Bird Day Walks

Songbird migration will be near its peak on May 8th and we will walk the trails of GOSNELL BIG WOODS and WHITING ROAD NATURE PRESERVE searching for migrant visitors as well as potential nesting species.  Warblers should be in good numbers and as the morning progresses migrating raptors may appear if the winds are favorable.  Observations will be recorded and included in the International Migratory Bird Day count.  Please bring binoculars and field guide if you have one.  Wear hat and good walking shoes.  Long sleeves and pants are recommended.  Bring insect repellent and be prepared for inclement weather.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Register for either Big Woods or Whiting Road Nature Preserve.  PARTICIPANTS MUST BE REGISTERED PRIOR TO THE WALK.  NO PETS ALLOWED.

Karate

This program is for new or returning students of any ability level.  Students will be introduced to traditional martial arts and American Freestyle Karate.  Emphasis is on physical and aerobic conditioning technique, forms, free sparing, practical self-defense and sport karate.  Students learn discipline, respect and good sportsmanship.  Ranks are based on established testing standards and awards based on student’s effort.  Parent participation and/or attendance is required for children 5 - 7 years old.  Please note: Those registering for just one day per week must decide between Monday or Wednesday and attend only on that chosen day.  For this program a “family” is defined as one parent and one or two children.

Mother/Daughter and Father/Son

Outside will be cold and chilly, but inside the Webster Community Center will be warm and cozy!  Kids will create a monster mask craft to take home before the movie.  At 6:30pm an indoor movie will be shown on a 10.6’ high by 14’ wide movie screen!  The featured presentation will be Monsters, Inc. (Rated G).  Free popcorn will be served for your delight! Please bring your own snacks and drinks if you like!   Pre-registration is required.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Basketball Clinic

Moms, daughters, fathers and sons, here is a chance for you to learn and enjoy the great game of basketball.  Skills, drills, games, and contests will make this afternoon lots of fun!  The fee is per person so please register both the child and adult.

Indoor Tennis Lessons for Juniors and Adults

This tennis program is set up to accommodate all levels of play.  The goal will be to teach basic strokes and later put them into drills and games that will show how tennis can be a lot of fun to play.  Location will be at the Harley School Indoor Tennis Courts.  Directions to the Harley School can be found online at www.davestrebelacademy.com.

Junior and Adult Instructional Tennis

This tennis program is set up to accommodate all levels of play.  The goal will be to teach basic strokes and later put them into drills and games that will demonstrate how fun tennis can be to play.  For players who are intermediate or advanced level, the drills will not only teach the fundamentals but will also incorporate the skills into strategies to use during matches.  Dave Strebel, USPTA Pro, will coordinate this program and his staff will be teaching it.
