American Red Cross First Aid/Babysitting

This course is designed to provide 11-15 year olds with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants.  Through hands-on activities, interactive video and lively discussions, this course will help participants to care for children and infants, develop leadership skills, keep themselves and others safe, handle emergencies such as injuries, illness and household accidents and learn how to develop a babysitting business.  The successful candidate will receive certification as an American Red Cross babysitter, as well as certification in American Red Cross First Aid.  Students are required to bring a self-addressed stamped envelope and a brown bag lunch to the class.  An American Red Cross Babysitter’s Kit will be available for purchase on the day of class, but is not required.  Kits cost $10 each and are payable in cash or by check to the American Red Cross.

Snowmobile Safety Course

This snowmobile safety class teaches young snowmobilers the state laws and regulations, emergency tips, riding skills and snowmobile maintenance.  Snowmobile safety is emphasized and some of the topics to be discussed are riding conditions, emergency packs and safety equipment.

Chemistry for Kids

Do you like to mix different things together to see what happens?  Did you ever wonder what things are made of?  Be a scientist as you combine different substances to make new kinds of matter, for example putty, CO2 in a bag, and colorful water bottles.  Explore the properties of matter while learning about solids, liquids, gases, and energy.  Non-resident fee does not apply.

Be a Dinosaur Detective

Learn about these special animals from long ago.  How do we know what dinosaurs looked like?  What did they eat, and why did they disappear?  Go on a dinosaur dig and make your own dinosaur fake fossil to take home.  See real dinosaur bone fossils and replicas.  Non-resident fee does not apply.
